One of the eight goals of Millennium
Development Goals (MDGs) declared by the United
Nations (UN) in the year of 2000 is to promote gender
equality and empowerment of women. Where the
targets of this goal are to eliminate gender disparities in
primary and secondary education levels in 2005 and at
all levels of education not more than 2015. This is in
accordance with Indonesia's human development
objectives of achieving gender equality in order to
improve the quality of human resources without
distinguishing male and female.
